Photobotanical Alchemy and UV Radiance: A Metamorphic Approach to Abstract Cyanotype

In a complex, fragmented, and challenging contemporary era, the act of creation undergoes a radical transformation. It ceases to be a mere aesthetic expression, becoming instead an act of silent rebellion and, simultaneously, a profound acceptance of the present. This collection of abstract works arises from a visceral need to liberate the mind, offering the viewer a dedicated space for suspension and meticulous decompression.

The Alchemy of UV Light and Phytochemistry

The beating heart of this project lies at the intersection of primordial photography and botany. Utilizing the traditional technique of cyanotype, sunlight and UV rays act as alchemists, engaging in a direct dialogue with organic emulsions and natural toning processes. Botanical matter is transformed into both pigment and memory:

  • Green Tea and Moringa infuse the pieces with sophisticated, earthy undertones.
  • Fenugreek and Rosemary leave distinct textural traces and a deep, structural intensity.
  • Hibiscus and Madder Root (Robbia) ignite the artwork with warm, acidic, or coppery tones, breaking away from the classic Prussian blue.

The Ritual of Matter: Process and Precision

Each individual piece is a unique microcosm, the result of a slow, stratified manual process that demands millimetric precision. The paper is not treated as a passive support, but rather as a living medium: it is emulsified, exposed, hand-torn, die-cut, folded, toned, and ultimately assembled. This three-dimensional, sculptural approach imparts a tangible texture to the abstraction, wherein controlled error and the organic randomness of nature become constituent elements of the artwork itself.

Geometric Progression and Spatial Scaling

The visual journey unfolds through a deliberate geometric and spatial progression. The project fluidly scales across variable dimensions, mirroring the expansion of a mind freeing itself from constraints:

  • It begins with the intimacy of the smallest formats (15 \times 21 cm), serving as personal journals of experimentation.
  • It transitions into the structural stability of square formats (25 \times 25 cm and 45 \times 45 cm).
  • It culminates in the expansive breath of large-scale compositions (50 \times 70 cm and beyond).
