1. GUIDELINE ROUTINE 25

BY RAMONA ZORDINI
Notes of Merit:
– Centered on the theme of the competition through introspection and research.
– Celebrated for physical and conceptual investigation.

Cinzia De Felice: This self-portrait explores the layering of life through the Cyanotype technique. The artist uses photography to represent the complexities of existence, likening life to an onion, with overlapping layers. Water, the central element of his work, symbolizes change and fragility. Through toned cyanotype collages, she creates ethereal images that reveal depths and hidden treasures, inviting us to explore the core of being. His research, combining analog and digital, reflects a desire for authenticity and wonder in the artistic experience.

Francesco Mutti writes: Although minimal in size, Zordini’s work fully centers the leitmotif of the competition, focusing not so much on the theme itself but on her work as a symbol of that required research. A work regulated
on absolute introspection, on factually excavating the material as an open-hearted operation on one’s own feelings/body. An investigation that is first of all physical as well as conceptual. After all, an ever-deepening self-knowledge should be the foundation of each artist’s research: and only in this lies the subsequent ability to make the best use of the tools we are given at our disposal, not least that which allows us to understand everything else beyond us.

Gian Maria Mallegni says: Beautiful is the parallel between life and the layers of an onion, well delineated by the work, an invitation to discover oneself and to discover, not stopping at mere appearances.
